Brett Favre Signs To The Minnesota Vikings!

Brett Favre is back baby! Favre finally made the decision to return for his 19th season. He will play for the Vikings (who I do not really like, my team is Green Bay) and should push them into an automatic playoff birth.

With Bernard Berrian, Adrian Peterson, and Favre, the Vikings offense should have no problems scoring points. Their defense is already pretty tough to match. The NFC North is going to be an entertaining division this year with Jay Cutler on the Bears and the best team in the division, the Green Bay Packers!

Terms of Brett Favre's contract with the Vikings have not come out yet.

Does Ryan Grant Deserve A Plush Long Term Contract?

I know this guy shocked the league last season with his streak of consistent outstanding games, not to mention his heroic performance versus the Seahawks in the playoffs, single-handedly carrying my favorite team to the next round; but is it enough to warrant a lucrative long-term deal among the best in the NFL?

Ryan Grant racked up 956 yards and 8 touchdowns in 7 starts for the Packers.

That's the problem!

The Packers acquired Grant in a trade during the season, they've never had him for a full year, and he definitely hasn't proven he can play 16 games and produce consistently. On top of that, Brett Favre obliterated opposing pass defenses last year, preventing teams from stacking the box and focusing on shutting down Ryan Grant. Assume Brett Favre starts for Green Bay next year. Who will opposing defenses worry about, Brett Favre or Ryan Grant?

Thought so.

The solution? Since Ryan Grant cannot field offers from other teams (he's an exclusive rights free agent), offer him a decent short term contract, let's say, 3 years $12-15 million, with atleast $3-4 million guaranteed. Maybe add a bonus clause stating the Packers will restructure it into a long term deal if he starts atleast 14 games and produces stats rivaling the best in the league, case closed.

I think both parties could agree on this deal. And I predict Ryan will be playing in a Packers uniform next season.
